Indian Men’s Hockey5s Team Ready to Blaze Trail in FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup

New Delhi: The stage is set for the Indian Men’s Hockey5s Team as they gear up for the inaugural edition of the FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup, set to unfold in Muscat, Oman, from 28th to 31st January 2024. The tournament will witness an action-packed competition, and India finds itself placed in Pool B alongside Egypt, Jamaica, and Switzerland.

India’s campaign in the FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup begins with a face-off against Switzerland on 28th January at 1110hrs IST, followed by a clash against Egypt on the same day at 1930hrs IST. The final group-stage game is scheduled against Jamaica on 29th January at 0930hrs IST. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Quarter-Finals on 30th January, leading to the Semi-Finals and the Final on 31st January.

Led by the experienced Olympic Bronze medallist and forward Simranjeet Singh, the Indian Men’s Team boasts a robust lineup. Mandeep Mor serves as the Vice Captain, providing defensive solidity alongside Simranjeet. The goalkeeping responsibilities are entrusted to the reliable duo of Suraj Karkera and Prashant Kumar Chauhan.

The defensive duo of Mandeep Mor and Manjeet aims to create an impregnable barrier, while the midfield duties rest on the shoulders of Mohd Raheel Mouseen and Maninder Singh. The forward line, featuring Pawan Rajbhar, Gurjot Singh, and Uttam Singh, adds a potent attacking dimension to the squad, complementing the dynamic leadership of Captain Simranjeet.

Expressing pride and determination, Captain Simranjeet Singh stated, “Representing India fills our hearts with pride and determination. It’s an honor to lead this talented squad, and we are ready to showcase our skills, teamwork, and the spirit of the game. Our goal is clear – to bring glory to the nation and make every Indian proud.”

Vice Captain Mandeep Mor echoed the sentiments, saying, “As the Vice Captain, I am excited to support and collaborate with our Captain Simranjeet Singh in leading the Indian Men’s Hockey5s Team. We have a fantastic group of players, and our collective focus is on giving our best on the field.”

The tournament promises exhilarating matches, and Indian fans can catch the action live on Sports18 3 and Jio Cinema. The anticipation is high as the Indian Men’s Hockey5s Team aims to create memorable moments and etch a glorious chapter in the history of Indian hockey.
