Indian Institute of Mass Communication Granted Deemed to be University Status

New Delhi: The Ministry of Education, following the advice of UGC (University Grants Commission), has declared the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) as a deemed to be university under a distinct category. This prestigious declaration encompasses not only IIMC New Delhi but also its five regional campuses situated in Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir), Amravati (Maharashtra), Aizawl (Mizoram), Kottayam (Kerala), and Dhenkanal (Odisha).

This new status empowers IIMC to confer degrees, including doctoral degrees, thereby enhancing its academic offerings and reinforcing its position as a leading institution for Journalism and Mass Communication. The deemed to be university status will contribute to furthering academic excellence, research initiatives, and the overall development of students across all campuses.

IIMC, known for its commitment to quality journalism and communication education, is poised to make significant contributions to the media landscape in India and beyond, with its enhanced status as a deemed to be university.
