Indian Army and Air Force Sign MoU with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya to Boost Logistics Expertise

New Delhi: In a significant move to enhance the logistics capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces, the Indian Army and Indian Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara. The MoU, signed in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, aims to equip military personnel with advanced skills in logistics operations.

The agreement will focus on capacity building and the development of in-house expertise in logistics for both services, aligning with national initiatives like the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022. This collaboration will ensure that the Armed Forces can support India’s broader logistics goals, contributing to national security and economic growth.

Speaking at the event, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh hailed the partnership as a monumental step toward bolstering the Armed Forces’ logistics backbone, aligning with the vision of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defence. He stressed the growing importance of logistics in military operations and national security, stating, “Logistics is no longer just a support function but a crucial factor in swiftly mobilizing forces and delivering resources efficiently.”

The Defence Minister underscored the importance of self-reliance in logistics expertise and equipment, emphasizing that India should rely on domestic resources like Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya for training and innovation. He added that the MoU will play a pivotal role in shaping future logistics managers and experts, ready to meet the demands of modern warfare.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed confidence that the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will become a key partner in empowering the Armed Forces with cutting-edge education, research, and innovation in logistics.
