Indian Air Force Joins DigiLocker: A Leap Towards Digital Transformation

New Delhi: In a significant move towards embracing digital innovation, the Indian Air Force (IAF) officially integrated with the DigiLocker platform, a flagship initiative of the Digital India programme. The momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the IAF and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) took place at Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan, underscoring a transformative step in modernizing administrative processes within the IAF.

This groundbreaking integration signifies the IAF’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency, data security, and accessibility to critical service documents for its personnel, both serving and retired.

Key Highlights of the Integration:

Seamless Document Upload and Access: Authorized IAF departments and divisions will now have the capability to effortlessly upload digital records, certificates, and essential documents to the national DigiLocker repository. This ensures secure storage and easy accessibility of crucial documents.
Personalized Access for Officers: IAF officers will gain direct access to their vital documents, including the Certificate of Service (COS) and Service Book Officers (SBO), through their personal DigiLocker wallets. This streamlined process enables convenient retrieval and verification of important records.
Streamlined Recruitment Processes: The integration with DigiLocker will streamline various recruitment processes within the IAF, particularly the Agniveer Vayu recruitment. Digital verification of candidates’ academic documents will enhance transparency and credibility in the recruitment process.
The MoU, signed between Air Vice Marshal Phillip Thomas, ACAS (PO) l, Indian Air Force, and Shri Akash Tripathi, President & CEO, NeGD, MeitY, reflects a collaborative effort towards digital empowerment and modernization.

Speaking at the event, Shri S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, hailed this initiative as “a watershed moment in India’s digital transformation journey,” emphasizing its role in enhancing governance through technological empowerment.

With DigiLocker boasting over 269 million registered users and 6.73 billion issued documents, this integration marks a significant stride towards comprehensive digital transformation within the IAF. It aligns with the nation’s technological prowess and underscores the armed forces’ commitment to modernization efforts.
