India Showcases Vibrant Tourism at ITB Berlin 2025

Berlin: The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, participated in the prestigious ITB Berlin 2025, held from March 4-6 at Messe Berlin, a key global platform for the tourism industry. The event brought together leading tour operators, travel agencies, hoteliers, transport companies, and tech firms, offering an unparalleled opportunity for networking, partnerships, and collaborations. ITB Berlin is known for facilitating business growth and helping companies expand into new international markets.

The India Pavilion at ITB Berlin was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Ajit Gupte, in the presence of Kandula Durgesh, Minister of Tourism, Andhra Pradesh, and Mr. Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, Minister of Tourism, Madhya Pradesh. Germany continues to be one of the top ten source markets for inbound tourism to India, with 0.20 million Germans visiting the country in 2023.

A diverse delegation of nearly 40 stakeholders from India’s travel industry, including state governments from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and others, participated in the event to showcase their new destinations and tourism products for the global market. The Ministry of Tourism’s participation in ITB Berlin aims to bolster India’s image as a premier 365-day global destination for travelers.

The India Pavilion at ITB 2025 emphasized India’s rich cultural diversity, offering a kaleidoscope of languages, traditions, and cultures that make up its dynamic tourism landscape. The pavilion also highlighted niche tourism experiences such as spiritual & wellness tourism, wedding tourism, adventure and ecotourism, and gourmet tourism. The pavilion’s central theme was sustainable tourism, aligning with India’s growing focus on responsible travel and conservation.

The event also saw the announcement of the Chalo India initiative, which offers gratis e-tourist visas to foreigners traveling to India, valid until March 31, 2025. This initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encourages the Indian diaspora to invite their non-Indian friends to explore the grandeur of Incredible India. Additionally, the revamped Incredible India digital portal, along with the new Incredible India Content Hub, was showcased at the event. The portal aims to enhance the travel experience by providing a one-stop digital solution for tourists and stakeholders.

Another highlight of India’s participation was the recent success of the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, one of the largest religious congregations in the world. The event reaffirmed India’s stature as a leading spiritual destination and drew significant attention to the country’s vast cultural and religious heritage.
