India Showcases Tourism Potential at FITUR in Madrid, Spain

Madrid: The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is actively participating in FITUR, a prominent global travel exhibition held in Madrid, Spain, from January 24th to 28th, 2024. The event is part of a concerted effort to boost inbound tourism to pre-pandemic levels from key source markets worldwide.

The Incredible India pavilion at FITUR was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Dinesh K. Pattanaik, Ambassador of India to Spain, along with Ms. Anmol Gagan Mann, Minister of Tourism, Government of Punjab, and other officials from the Ministry of Tourism and State Governments on January 24th. India’s participation includes a substantial delegation with 40 plus co-exhibitors, making it one of the largest pavilions at FITUR in recent years. Several State Governments, including Punjab, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka, are showcasing their tourism offerings.

FITUR is a leading international tourism event that attracts over 150,000 visitors annually, including travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, hoteliers, cruise lines, and tourism professionals. The Incredible India Pavilion, covering around 315 square meters, aims to showcase diverse tourism products and destinations, emphasizing India’s cultural, wellness, and culinary heritage. The exhibition positions India as a key destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions), weddings, and wellness tourism in the region.

The India pavilion focuses on highlighting the rich traditional, cultural, and musical heritage of the country. Special activities such as Yoga sessions, classical dance performances, and Mehendi application have been organized, attracting significant attention from visitors.

Spain is identified as an important source market for India, and the foreign tourist arrivals from Spain to India are nearing pre-pandemic levels. The participation at FITUR reflects India’s commitment to promoting its tourism potential globally and fostering connections with international stakeholders in the travel and hospitality sector.
