India Showcases Telecom Transformation at Mobile World Congress 2025

Barcelona, Spain: Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia attended the prestigious Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, where he engaged in high-level meetings with global CEOs, delivered key speeches, and explored groundbreaking technological innovations shaping the future of mobile and telecommunications.

The Minister’s participation at this global event emphasized India’s impressive strides in the telecom sector, particularly highlighting the nation’s rapid 5G rollout, the world’s lowest data tariffs, indigenous 4G/5G stacks, and robust cybersecurity measures. India’s presence at MWC 2025 reinforced the country’s significant role in global telecom innovation and governance, showcasing the ongoing telecom revolution led by the government.

Scindia addressed vital sessions on ‘Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’ and ‘Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy’, where he discussed India’s forward-looking approach to tech governance. The Minister emphasized that innovation, inclusivity, sustainability, and trust form the bedrock of India’s tech governance strategy, citing the success of initiatives like Aadhaar and BharatNet, which have transformed the digital landscape by ensuring connectivity and services to every citizen.

He outlined India’s four-step approach towards balancing innovation and regulation in the telecom sector. These include spectrum management, market stability, telecom regulation improvements, and cybersecurity measures aimed at protecting consumers and fostering a safe digital ecosystem.

One of the highlights of Scindia’s visit was the unveiling of the India Mobile Congress 2025 and the inauguration of the Bharat Pavilion, organized by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC). The Pavilion showcased 38 Indian telecom equipment manufacturers, highlighting India’s capabilities in both hardware and software innovation.

During his visit to the Pavilion, the Minister also inaugurated VVDN’s indigenously designed AI-based Wi-Fi-7, showcasing India’s prowess in cutting-edge telecommunications technology. Scindia further explored booths from global tech giants like Meta and Google Cloud, gaining insights into their advanced technological solutions.

In addition to his engagements at MWC, Scindia held high-level discussions with industry leaders from Qualcomm, Cisco, Mavenir, Ericsson, Nokia, AMD, AT&T, Airtel, BSNL, CDOT, and others. These interactions, including a dinner with CEOs, facilitated the establishment of strategic partnerships aimed at driving further innovation in the telecom sector.

The Minister also participated in bilateral meetings with FCC representatives and visited booths showcasing the latest advancements in 5G, artificial intelligence, and next-generation mobile technologies.
