India International Science Festival 2023 to Host Science & Technology Media and Communicators Conclave

Faridabad: The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2023 is gearing up to present the first-ever Science & Technology Media and Communicators Conclave from January 18th to 19th at THSTI-RCB Campus, Faridabad. This groundbreaking event will bring together the spheres of journalism and science, aiming to explore the intricate relationship between the two and discuss emerging trends, challenges, and the future of this dynamic partnership.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, with a keynote address by Dr. William Selvamurthy, President of Amity STI Foundation. Distinguished personalities including Mr. Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR, Shri Praveen Ramdas, National Secretary of Vijnana Bharati, and Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, will also be part of the event.

Prominent figures in media and science, such as Shri Raj Chengappa (India Today), Shri Vijay Joshi (Press Trust of India – PTI), Shri Bhupendra Kainthola (Press Registrar, RNI), and senior science journalists like Shri Pallava Bagla, will share their experiences in enlightening sessions.

The conclave features a ‘Science through Cinema’ session, showcasing acclaimed filmmakers, actors, and professionals exploring the fusion of ‘Science and Cinema.’ A ‘Master Class for Journalism Students’ offers a valuable opportunity to understand the intricacies, responsibilities, and ethics of science reporting and social media best practices.

Panel discussions on the significance of media in India’s science diplomacy and ways to enhance the representation of Science & Technology in media will also be conducted.

The Science Media Communication Cell (SMCC) at CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication & Policy Research (NIScPR) is coordinating and facilitating the media coordination and publicity for IISF 2023. The SMCC’s key objective is to disseminate and showcase India’s R&D breakthroughs and scientific achievements across various media platforms.
