India and Oman Strengthen IT Ties with New MoU

New Delhi:  The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has been apprised of a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman. The MoU, inked on December 15, 2023, aims to enhance cooperation in the field of Information Technology (IT) between the two nations.

Key Highlights of the MoU:

  1. Comprehensive Cooperation: The MoU seeks to promote all-encompassing cooperation through mutual support, sharing of technologies, information, and investments in the field of Information Technology.
  2. Effective Duration: The MoU will be effective from the date of signing and remains in force for a period of 3 years.
  3. Bilateral Cooperation: Both Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) bilateral cooperation in the Information Technology sector will be intensified.
  4. Collaborative Employment Opportunities: The MoU is expected to facilitate improved collaboration, leading to enhanced employment opportunities in the field of IT.
  5. Objective of MeitY: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has been entrusted with the mandate to promote international cooperation in emerging and frontier areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). This collaboration with Oman aligns with various initiatives by the Indian government, such as Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Make in India, aiming to transform the nation into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
  6. Global Collaborations: MeitY has been actively entering into MoUs and agreements with counterpart organizations/agencies from various countries to foster bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the ICT domain.

The MoU signifies a step forward in strengthening the ties between India and Oman, promoting technological advancements, business growth, and mutual economic development in the Information Technology sector.
