New Delhi: Strengthening bilateral ties and fostering collaboration in sports, H.E. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, met with Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Government of India, at Shram Shakti Bhawan during his visit to India.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the historical ties between India and Antigua & Barbuda and explored opportunities for sports cooperation across multiple disciplines, including Cricket, Football, Rugby, Basketball, and Volleyball. The Antiguan delegation expressed a keen interest in expanding mutual support and collaboration at multilateral forums, recognizing the potential for shared growth in athletics and sports management.
A significant focus of the discussions was on exchange programs for athletes and coaches, alongside cooperation in sports science, medicine, management, and infrastructure development. Additionally, both sides deliberated on engaging Antigua & Barbuda’s cricketing legends in coaching academies in India, where they could mentor and nurture young Indian talent.
H.E. E.P. Chet Greene also expressed gratitude to the Indian government, particularly acknowledging India’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic through vaccine assistance. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in advancing economic growth, digital innovation, healthcare, and championing the interests of the Global South.
