
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several districts in western Odisha over the next three days. Sambalpur and Jharsuguda are expected to experience heatwave conditions tomorrow, March 29, as per the latest forecast.
For March 30, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for six districts, including Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and Kalahandi, cautioning residents about extreme temperatures. The same warning has been extended for March 31, with heatwave conditions anticipated in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and Kalahandi.
According to the IMD, a heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature is significantly above normal, posing potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and wearing light clothing to mitigate heat-related illnesses.
