Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates New Office Building of CRCS

New Delhi: In a momentous event, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the new office building of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) in New Delhi. The distinguished ceremony witnessed the presence of eminent figures, including Minister of State for Cooperation Shri B.L. Verma, Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation Shri Gyanesh Kumar, and representatives from Multi-State Cooperative Federation, Multi-State Cooperative Societies, and Banks from across the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah underscored the alignment of the new CRCS office with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation). He accentuated the transformative changes ushered in by the Modi government in the cooperative sector, encompassing the introduction of new laws, establishment of fresh offices, and the implementation of a transparent operational framework. Notably, within two years of the inception of the Cooperative Ministry, the government swiftly enacted amendments in accordance with the 98th Amendment in the Multistate Cooperative Societies Act.

The Home Minister emphasized the significance of the new office, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs. 175 crore, covering an expansive area of 1550 square meters. He stressed the necessity of modernization and efficient office arrangements to foster a conducive work culture. Shri Shah lauded the Ministry of Cooperation for its commendable efforts in implementing a series of reforms within a brief span.

Shri Amit Shah shed light on the Ministry of Cooperation’s overarching goal, elucidating that the cooperative movement in the country, spanning 125 years, had experienced a gradual decline. Outdated laws governing cooperatives necessitated a rejuvenation of the sector. The Ministry of Cooperation, instituted under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, seeks to fortify the cooperative movement and significantly contribute to India’s 5 trillion US dollar economy.

The Home Minister detailed the Ministry of Cooperation’s proactive approach, having undertaken 60 initiatives in the past 30 months to reinvigorate the cooperative sector. He underscored the transformative role of cooperatives in empowering various socio-economic strata, highlighting the government’s success in simplifying the lives of millions by providing essential amenities.

Shri Amit Shah cited noteworthy examples of successful cooperatives, such as the thriving animal husbandry business in Gujarat, involving 36 lakh families with an impressive annual turnover of Rs 60 thousand crores. He accentuated the cooperative sector’s potential to drive the country’s development without substantial capital investment.

The Home Minister lauded the cooperative sector’s positive response to reforms, citing the successful resolution of investors’ money stuck in cooperative societies, notably in the Sahara Group. He underscored the critical importance of maintaining credibility within the cooperative sector to ensure sustained growth and avert a crisis of existence.

Shri Amit Shah commended IFFCO’s innovative initiatives, including Nano DAP and Nano Urea Liquid, as well as the integration of drones in modern farming practices. He encouraged Multi State Cooperative Credit Societies to prepare for conversion into banks, citing a substantial increase in their registrations.

In conclusion, Shri Amit Shah celebrated the rapid progress achieved in the cooperative sector, affirming the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming more cooperative societies into banks, in harmony with the overarching vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi.’
