Heatwave warning for Five districts in Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on  Monday issued a two-day yellow warning for heat wave for five districts in Odisha.

In a bulletin, the weather agency informed that the hot westerly wind is blocking the wind from the sea towards the state’s coast due to the weakening of the trough from Jharkhand to southeast Madhya Pradesh. This has resulted in a sharp rise in the day temperature at most places of the state.

Issuing the warning IMD that the day temperature in western Odisha would rise causing intense heat wave in coastal districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Balasore along with Mayurbhanj on Monday. While Khurda, Cuttack and Dhenkanal district would experience heat wave on Tuesday as well.

Advising everyone to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11 am to 3 pm, IMD advised not elderly, sick people and infants to remain inside.
