Gujarat Titans Clinch Victory Against Sunrisers Hyderabad with Miller's Masterclass
Ahmedabad: Inclement weather played spoilsport at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, forcing the abandonment of Match 63 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) without a single ball being bowled.
Persistent rain throughout the day left the ground sodden, rendering it unfit for play, ultimately leading to the decision to call off the match. Consequently, both teams were awarded one point each, adding a solitary point to their respective tallies.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, who had already secured a berth in the playoffs, the extra point consolidates their position at the top of the table, ensuring a top-two finish. With 19 points to their name, KKR now gear up for their final league game against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati, aiming to maintain their momentum heading into the knockout stage.
On the other hand, the washout spells the end of the playoff aspirations for Gujarat Titans. Despite being the 2022 champions and finalists last year, GT find themselves with 11 points and no chance of progressing further in the tournament.
