
New Delhi: Giriraj Singh officially assumed charge as the Union Minister of Textiles today. The handover ceremony saw former Union Minister of Textiles Piyush Goyal passing on the responsibilities to Singh in the presence of Minister of State Pabitra Margherita.
Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, along with other senior officials, attended the ceremony to welcome the new minister and provide an overview of the ministry’s ongoing projects and initiatives.
Upon assuming his new role, Singh emphasized the significant potential of the textiles sector in generating employment and boosting the economy. “The textiles sector has huge employment opportunities. The industry also holds a large share in terms of global exports as well,” he stated.
In addition to Singh’s appointment, Pabitra Margherita took charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Textiles. Margherita, a Rajya Sabha member elected from the Margherita legislative constituency in Assam, expressed his commitment to the development of the textiles sector.
