Foundation Stone Laid for Four Manufacturing Units at Divitipally Electronics Manufacturing Cluster

Mahabubnagar, Telangana: Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, IT, and Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, laid the foundation stone for four major manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana. The ceremony marked a significant step toward strengthening India’s electronics and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing ecosystem.

The foundation stone was laid for Amara Raja’s Giga Factory-1, while ground-breaking ceremonies were held for Lohum’s critical minerals refining and battery recycling unit, Scell Energy’s cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin’s first LFP-CAM Giga Factory. These projects align with the government’s commitment to promoting electric mobility and self-reliance in advanced battery technologies.

Speaking at the event, Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the government’s focus on electric mobility and its dedication to building the right infrastructure for EV adoption. “We welcome Indian innovation and manufacturing initiatives and look forward to the success of this endeavor,” he said.

The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Divitipally, approved under the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) Scheme by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), spans 377.65 acres. The cluster is already fully occupied, with 307.47 acres allocated to four companies—Amara Raja, Altmin, Lohum Materials, and Scell Energy. These firms have committed a total investment of ₹10,574 crore and are expected to generate direct employment for 5,864 individuals and indirect employment for 13,300 people.

Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT) is establishing its Giga Factory over 262 acres, with a planned 16 GW cell manufacturing facility and a 5 GW battery pack plant. The project represents an investment of ₹9,500 crore over five years and is expected to create 4,500 direct jobs, along with a similar number of indirect employment opportunities in Telangana.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of Amara Raja Energy and Mobility Ltd., called the foundation stone-laying a significant milestone. “We are grateful to the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to the Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their proactive and pro-industry approach,” he stated.

The event was attended by Telangana’s Minister for IT, Electronics, Industries, and Commerce, D. Sridhar Babu, Member of Parliament from Mahabubnagar Constituency Aruna D K, and MLA Y. Srinivas Reddy, along with senior government officials and industry representatives.
