Bhubaneswar: The vibrant hues of nature took center stage as the Annual Flower Show-2024 commenced at Ekamra Kanan in the heart of Odisha’s capital. Inaugurated today, the two-day state-level spectacle is a collaborative effort by the Regional Plant Resources Centre (RPRC) and Plant Lovers’ Association.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by the presence of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force Debidutta Biswal, marked the official commencement of the floral fiesta. PCCF Debidutta Biswal explored the enchanting flower garden, exhibition stalls, plant bazaar, and selfie points, adding to the festive ambiance.
A diverse array of flora, including roses, marigolds, dahlias, chrysanthemums (Sebati), zinnias, ferns, aglonima, and palm plants, adorned the exhibition, captivating the visitors with their natural beauty.
The Plant Bazaar, featuring stalls from 36 agencies and 19 nurseries, emerged as a hub for enthusiasts seeking samplings, seeds, and ceramic flower pots. Government agencies such as Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Directorate of Horticulture, Odisha Forest Development Corporation Limited, NALCO, along with private participants like MGM Minerals and SOA University, showcased their contributions to the floral panorama.
On the opening day, approximately 15,000 visitors immersed themselves in the floral bliss, with expectations of a higher footfall on Sunday. The flower show not only serves as a visual treat for nature lovers but also provides a platform for horticultural enthusiasts and businesses to connect with the community. The Ekamra Kanan flower show continues to bloom as a testament to Odisha’s rich botanical heritage.
