Bhubaneswar: After a hiatus of nearly two months, flight services between Bhubaneswar and Rourkela resumed on Monday, bringing relief to passengers traveling between the two cities. The service had been suspended since December 11, 2023.
The resumption of flight services marked the end of a 50-day gap, with 26 passengers availing the flight from Bhubaneswar and 46 passengers boarding from Rourkela on the reopening day.
The flight departed from Bhubaneswar, reached Rourkela airport at 3:50 pm, and commenced its return journey to Bhubaneswar at 4:20 pm, according to sources.
Currently, flight landings at Rourkela require a minimum visibility of 5,000 meters, leading to frequent suspensions of flight operations due to adverse weather conditions, as stated by a source.
Meanwhile, sources suggest that the direct flight service between Rourkela and Kolkata is likely to resume on Tuesday (January 30), bringing further connectivity options for travelers between the two cities.
