Five-Day Induction Training for Newly Recruited PGTs Begins in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A five-day induction training programme aimed at enhancing the professional competency of newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Economics and Political Science commenced today at IMAGE, Siripur. The programme has been designed for PGTs serving in Non-Government Aided Higher Secondary Schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha.

A total of 90 teachers are taking part in the training, which includes in-depth sessions on classroom management, pedagogical strategies, professional development, and group activities on key academic themes. Participants will also receive orientation on the Odisha Career Portal, DHSE website, SAMS procedures, Sikhyajyoti Portal, Vocational Education, scholarship-related processes, as well as guidance on maintaining personal health and nutrition—an essential aspect of creating a healthy learning environment.

The programme was inaugurated by Niyati Pattnaik, Director, DHSE. Snigdha Mishra, Joint Director, DHSE, is coordinating the training, while Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director, DHSE, and Dr. Umakanta Sethy, OIC, SAMS, were present during the inaugural ceremony. Ch. Vijaylaxmi, Deputy Director, DHSE, delivered the vote of thanks.

In her address, the DHSE Director emphasized the need for value-based education to foster holistic development and strong character among students. Joint Director Mishra highlighted the objectives of the programme and outlined the sessions planned for the next five days.

A training report booklet from a previously conducted induction programme was also released on the occasion. The initiative reaffirms the State Government’s commitment to strengthening teacher capacity and aligning Odisha’s school education framework with ongoing educational reforms.
