First Omicron Cases Detected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The first cases of Omicron detected in Odisha on Tuesday.

As per reports two forign returnees had tested COVID-19 positive and their samples were sent for genome sequencing  for the Omicron variant to the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) and the reports came positive.

Of the two patients, one man returned from Nigeria and another man returned from Qatar. After their reports came positive for the Omicron variant, their contact tracing is being done. 

As per reports, so far 21 people came in contact with the patient has been traced. While the Nigeria returnee came in contact with 11 persons, the Qatar returnee had 10 contacts.

Meanwhile, Niranjan Mishra Director for Public Health, stated that there is no need to panic and as their contact tracing is being done launched.
