Bhubaneswar: Odisha Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Wednesday inaugurated a series of new technological initiatives at the Odisha State Beverages Corporation (OSBC) head office. The new systems include the Central CCTV Monitoring System, Auto Indexing Approval System, and direct integration with the State Government Treasury.
These upgrades are designed to enable real-time monitoring of OSBC’s operations from its four major stores, significantly enhancing transparency and streamlining day-to-day functioning. Addressing the gathering, Minister Harichandan emphasized the state government’s dual approach — modernizing the excise administration while simultaneously promoting awareness against substance abuse among youth, in line with Odisha’s new excise policy.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Excise Department and OSBC for the current financial year. The MoU outlines plans for enhanced excise revenue collection and the implementation of key programs and reforms in the sector.
The OSBC also made substantial financial contributions during the occasion, including ₹12 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, an internal dividend of ₹25 crore, and an annual dividend of ₹14 crore — a reflection of the corporation’s robust financial performance.
Excise Department Secretary Guha Punam Tapas Kumar, OSBC Managing Director Ambar Kumar Kar, General Manager Sanjay Kumar Rout, Chief Operations Manas Ranjan Swain, and other senior officials and staff members were present at the event.
