eShram Portal Registers Over 29.79 Crore Unorganised Workers

New Delhi: The Ministry of Labour & Employment’s eShram portal, launched on August 26, 2021, has successfully registered over 29.79 crore unorganised workers, including migrant laborers, as of July 16, 2024. This platform, designed to provide comprehensive data and facilitate access to social security schemes, has issued eShram cards to these workers, enabling them to benefit from various government initiatives.

The primary goal of the eShram portal is to create an Aadhaar-seeded national database of unorganised workers to facilitate the delivery of existing social security and welfare schemes. The portal allows unorganised workers to self-register on a self-declaration basis, ensuring ease of access and inclusion.

Key Features and Benefits of the eShram Portal:

  1. Aadhaar-Verified Registration: The portal ensures that all registrations are fully Aadhaar-verified and seeded. Any unorganised worker can register on a self-declaration basis.
  2. Migrant Worker Details: The portal has the capability to capture and record family details of migrant workers, ensuring comprehensive data collection.
  3. Data Sharing with States/UTs: Data of construction workers registered on eShram is shared with States/UTs to facilitate their registration with respective Building and other Construction Workers (BoCW) boards.
  4. Integration with National Career Service (NCS): eShram is integrated with the NCS portal, allowing unorganised workers to use their Universal Account Number (UAN) to register and search for better job opportunities. A seamless link is provided for eShram registrants to register on the NCS portal.
  5. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) Integration: eShram is linked with PM-SYM, a pension scheme for unorganised workers aged 18-40. Workers can easily register on the Maandhan portal using their UAN.
  6. Skill Enhancement and Apprenticeship: To provide skill enhancement and apprenticeship opportunities, eShram is integrated with the Skill India Digital portal of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
  7. myScheme Portal Integration: eShram is also connected with myScheme, a national platform that offers one-stop search and discovery of government schemes. This integration allows eShram registrants to check their eligibility and access various government schemes.

Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted these developments in a written reply to the Lok Sabha today. She emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of unorganised workers through innovative and inclusive digital solutions.

The eShram portal represents a significant step towards formalizing and supporting the unorganised labor sector, ensuring they have access to the benefits and opportunities they deserve.
