
Agartala: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, is set to showcase the extraordinary talents and craftsmanship of Divyang entrepreneurs at the Divya Kala Mela in Agartala. The six-day event, organized by the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) inaugurated on February 6 at Children Park, Agartala, aims to empower and provide a platform for Divyang artists and entrepreneurs from across the country.
More than 60 Divyang artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs from 18 states/UTs will showcase their products, skills, and services.
Products will span various categories, including Home Décor and lifestyle, Clothing, Stationery and eco-friendly products, packaged food and organic products, Toys and gifts, Personal Accessories – Jewellery, Clutch Bags Paintings, etc.
The event encourages the ‘vocal for local’ initiative, allowing visitors to explore and purchase products crafted by determined Divyang craftsmen.
The six-day event, open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, promises a series of cultural activities, featuring performances by Divyangjan artists and renowned professionals.
Visitors can savor diverse regional cuisines from across the country during the event. The Divya Kala Mela is a unique initiative towards the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/Divyangjan.
It provides a significant platform for marketing and showcasing the products and skills of Divyangjan.
The Divya Kala Mela in Agartala is the 14th in a series that commenced in 2022, covering various cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Varanasi, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Patna, Surat, Nagpur, and now Agartala, Tripura.
The initiative reflects the Department’s commitment to promoting Shashaktikaran (empowerment) of Divyang individuals.
The Divya Kala Mela serves as a testament to the resilience, talent, and creativity of Divyang entrepreneurs, fostering inclusivity and economic independence. Visitors are invited to witness and support this celebration of diversity and determination at Children Park, Agartala, from February 6 to 11, 2024.
