Electoral Roll Revision Drive Kicks Off In Odisha, Over 2.59 Lakh Forms Distributed

Bhubaneswar: The process of updating Odisha’s electoral rolls gained momentum on Sunday with the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across all Assembly constituencies, aimed at ensuring a more accurate and updated voter database.

Under the exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have begun visiting households to distribute enumeration forms and verify voter information. On the opening day of the drive, forms were distributed to 2,59,166 voters across the state.

The revision exercise is expected to facilitate the inclusion of eligible new voters while identifying and removing names of deceased persons, duplicate entries and electors who have permanently shifted from their registered addresses. Corrections in voter details are also being carried out as part of the process.

Officials said voters are being provided with two pre-filled copies of the enumeration form, known as Annexure-III. After verification and completion of the form, one copy is retained by the BLO, while the other is handed back to the voter as an acknowledgement.

Recognised political parties have also mobilised their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist in the revision process. A total of 33,026 BLAs have been appointed across Odisha, including 19,380 by the BJP, 8,881 by the BJD, 4,658 by the Congress, 60 by the CPI(M) and 47 by the BSP.

The Election Commission has additionally enabled voters to download the enumeration form from its official website and submit the completed document to their respective BLOs.

Officials maintained that the exercise is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and preparing a clean voter list. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with BLOs during the door-to-door verification process and ensure that their electoral details are updated accurately.

The statewide revision exercise will continue over the coming weeks under the supervision of election authorities.
