Elections: High Voter Turnout Marks Phase 1, Preliminary Figures Show Over 60% Participation

New Delhi: In a vibrant display of democratic fervour, the first phase of the General Elections 2024 witnessed a remarkable turnout of voters across the country, defying the scorching heat wave conditions. Preliminary estimates indicate a voter turnout of over 60% across the 21 States/UTs where polling took place, showcasing citizens’ unwavering commitment to their civic duty and democratic rights.

Polling for the first phase, encompassing 10 States/Union Territories to elect the 18th Lok Sabha, alongside State Legislative Assemblies of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, concluded today. Despite the challenging weather conditions, voters turned out in significant numbers, showcasing their unwavering commitment to their civic duty and democratic rights.
