Ekamra Utsav: Bhubaneswar Celebrates Odisha’s Rich Folk Art Heritage

Bhubaneswar: The heart of Odisha’s cultural spirit came alive on an open stage at Ekamra Utsav, organized by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). The event transformed the capital city into a vibrant canvas of traditional folk art, captivating the audience with its passion and preserving the rich cultural legacy of Odisha.

The BDA’s initiative provided a platform for lesser-known folk songs and dances to take center stage, allowing artists to showcase their talent while instilling a sense of pride in preserving the state’s cultural heritage.

The evening performances drew an enthusiastic crowd eager to immerse themselves in the diverse cultural tapestry of Odisha. From the rhythmic beats of traditional dances from Kalahandi district, accompanied by the resonating sounds of dhol and tasha, to the mesmerizing Kumbha dance from Ganjam, each act exuded a unique allure. Performers delicately balanced pots, revered for Maa Mangala, on their heads, symbolizing the region’s cultural and spiritual significance.

The Ranapa and tiger dances from Ganjam district, showcasing the essence of local traditions, added to the evening’s charm. The Raibelesi dance, a traditional form shared by both Odisha and neighboring West Bengal, further enriched the cultural mosaic, drawing applause from the engaged spectators.
