Eco Retreat 2025-26 Kicks Off: Odisha Opens Premium Glamping at Six Sites

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to Odisha’s sustainable tourism push, the State Government on Saturday rolled out Eco Retreat 2025–26, offering travellers a unique blend of nature, adventure, and premium glamping experiences across six picturesque destinations.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also heads the Tourism Department, formally launched this year’s edition of Eco Retreat through virtual mode from the ongoing Odisha Parab in Bengaluru. Calling Eco Retreat one of Odisha’s most successful tourism initiatives, she said the event continues to redefine nature-based travel in the State.

Parida highlighted the immersive experience the retreats offer. “Eco Retreat Odisha brings together serene landscapes, luxurious glamping stays, cultural experiences, and authentic local flavours. Every destination tells a story of beauty—inviting everyone to discover the magic of Odisha,” she said in a post on X.

This year, the eco-destinations include Bhitarkanika (Kendrapada), Satkosia (Angul), Hirakud (Sambalpur), Daringbadi (Kandhamal), Sonapur (Ganjam), and Putsil (Koraput)—each carefully curated to showcase the State’s ecological diversity and natural charm. Tourists can book their stays through bookodisha.com or by contacting the Tourism Department.

Highlights of the Six Eco Retreat Sites

Bhitarkanika:
Set inside the famed Bhitarkanika National Park, this retreat offers stays on Pentha Beach, boating along mangrove creeks, and opportunities to spot diverse wildlife including crocodiles, birds, and other species unique to the ecosystem.

Daringbadi:
Often called the ‘Kashmir of Odisha’, this hill destination sits 3,000 ft above sea level. Visitors can enjoy premium tents overlooking lush valleys, pine forests, cascading waterfalls, and the region’s signature coffee plantations.

Hirakud:
This retreat overlooks the massive Hirakud reservoir. It promises a mix of tranquillity and adventure, giving visitors a view of the world’s longest earthen dam and access to boating, water sports, and exploration of submerged temple ruins.

Putsil:
Located in the lap of the Eastern Ghats, Putsil offers breathtaking views of verdant valleys and waterfalls. The glamping site is designed to help visitors disconnect from city life and soak in the serenity of Koraput’s landscape.

Satkosia:
Situated at the confluence of the Eastern Ghats and Deccan Peninsula, Satkosia offers stunning views of the Mahanadi gorge—designated a Ramsar site. Guests can enjoy boating, birding, and wildlife sightings at the Satkosia Tiger Reserve.

Sonapur:
Nestled near the Bahuda river mouth, Sonapur Retreat lies beside one of Odisha’s pristine Blue Flag beaches. Visitors can unwind by the Bay of Bengal and explore the area’s unspoiled natural surroundings.

With diverse offerings—from beaches and forests to hills, rivers, and wildlife sanctuaries—Eco Retreat 2025–26 promises an unforgettable nature getaway while strengthening Odisha’s reputation as a leading eco-tourism destination.
