Bhubaneswar: In response to a complaint lodged by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging misuse of public office, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the transfer of Odisha IAS officer Sujata R Karthikeyan to a non-public dealing department.
According to reports from national media, Sujata R Karthikeyan’s transfer comes into immediate effect. She previously held the position of Commissioner cum Secretary in the Department of Mission Shakti in Odisha.
Sujata R Karthikeyan, the wife of influential Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader V K Pandian, faced scrutiny after the BJP lodged a complaint accusing her of misusing her government position.
Earlier today, a central team representing the BJP approached the Election Commission to petition for the removal of Sujata R Karthikeyan from her post, citing allegations of misconduct and misuse of authority.
