
President Appoints Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu as New Election Commissioners
Bhubaneswar: In preparation for the upcoming General Elections 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced fresh appointments for two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Odisha, signaling a proactive step towards maintaining law and order during the electoral process.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Odisha, the ECI revealed its decision to appoint Sarthak Sarangi, a 2007-batch IPS officer, as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Berhampur. Similarly, Awinash Kunar, also a 2007-batch IPS officer, has been designated as the SP for Khurda.
The selection of experienced officers like Sarthak Sarangi and Awinash Kunar reflects the ECI’s emphasis on competence and professionalism in handling election-related duties. Their diverse backgrounds and extensive experience in law enforcement are poised to contribute significantly to the successful execution of electoral activities in their respective regions.
