East Coast Railway Sets New Record in Freight Loading for FY 2023-24

Bubaneswar: In an impressive feat, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has outperformed all previous records of Indian Railways in freight loading during the Financial Year 2023-24. From April 1, 2023, to January 22, 2024, the zone successfully loaded a staggering 202.111 million tons of freight, surpassing the previous record of 191.39 MT loaded in the fiscal year 2022-23. This accomplishment marks ECoR as the first zone to cross the milestone of 200 million tonnes of loading for the fifth consecutive time.

The three divisions of ECoR played a pivotal role in contributing to this remarkable achievement, showcasing their dedication and efficiency.

During the current financial year, East Coast Railway loaded a diverse range of commodities, including 121.747 MT of coal, 10.65 MT of raw materials for steel plants, 16.398 MT of pig iron and finished steel, 24.018 MT of iron ore, 1.192 MT of cement, 2.415 MT of food grains, 5.235 MT of fertilizers, 2.425 MT of mineral oil, 3.774 MT of freight in containers, and 14.358 MT of other goods.

This exceptional loading performance reflects the resilience of East Coast Railway in overcoming various challenges, showcasing remarkable efficiency, planning, and coordination with government sectors and industries.

Under the dynamic leadership of General Manager Shri Manoj Sharma, ECoR achieved this remarkable feat. Shri Sharma’s strategic guidance and motivation played a crucial role in steering the workforce towards success. The achievement is a testament to the zone’s right-thinking approach, positive attitude, and continuous hard work, establishing East Coast Railway as a leader in freight loading within the Indian Railways network.
