East Bengal FC Triumphs in Kalinga Super Cup Finale: A Thrilling Finish

Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Super Cup reached its pinnacle with an electrifying finale, witnessing East Bengal FC emerge victorious with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the host team, Odisha FC. The thrilling encounter went into extra time, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday.

Nandha Kumar (51′), Saul Crespo (62′), and Cleiton Silva (110′) etched their names on the scoresheet for the triumphant East Bengal FC. On the other side, Diego Mauricio (39′) and Ahmed Jahouh (97′) demonstrated resilience for Odisha FC in what turned out to be a topsy-turvy battle.

Shri V K Pandian, Hon’ble Chairman, 5T, and Nabin Odisha, a distinguished presence at the event, awarded the trophy and a prize of Rs. 25 lakh to East Bengal FC in recognition of their stellar performance.

Post-event, Shri V K Pandian extended his heartfelt congratulations to East Bengal FC for securing the title. He commended Odisha FC for displaying commendable fighting spirit throughout the tournament. The successful conclusion of the Kalinga Super Cup underscores the commitment of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Naveen Patnaik towards sports excellence, especially football. Shri Pandian expressed confidence that the fervor witnessed during the tournament would inspire numerous individuals to embrace the beautiful game, further elevating the popularity of football in the region.

Dignitaries from the Government of Odisha, All India Football Federation (AIFF), and Football Association of Odisha (FAO) graced this momentous occasion at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The Kalinga Super Cup not only showcased competitive football but also celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participating teams.
