DRDO Successfully Flight-Tests RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile

Odisha: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a flight-test of the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from a Su-30 MK-I platform of the Indian Air Force (IAF) off the coast of Odisha. The test took place at approximately 1130 hours, achieving all trial objectives and validating the missile’s propulsion system as well as its control and guidance algorithms.

The performance of RudraM-II was confirmed through extensive data collection from various range tracking instruments, including electro-optical systems, radar, and telemetry stations deployed by the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur. These systems, located at multiple positions including an on-board ship, captured comprehensive flight data, ensuring the missile met its intended performance criteria.

RudraM-II is an indigenously developed solid-propelled air-launched missile system designed for air-to-surface missions, capable of neutralizing a variety of enemy assets. The missile incorporates several cutting-edge technologies developed by DRDO laboratories, highlighting India’s advancements in defense technology.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the IAF, and the involved industry partners on the successful test-flight of RudraM-II. He emphasized that the successful test has solidified the RudraM-II system’s role as a force multiplier for the Armed Forces.

Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, also praised the DRDO team for their relentless efforts and contributions leading to the successful flight test.
