New Delhi: Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, officiated as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the National Learning Week 2024, also known as Karmayogi Saptah, where he inaugurated the iGOT lab and learning center and presented awards to top-performing civil servants. The event was attended by Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Information and Broadcasting, Neerja Shekhar, Special Secretary, and other senior officials and awardees.
Karmayogi Saptah – National Learning Week (NLW) is a major government initiative, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focused on building a future-ready civil service that integrates Indian values with a global perspective. Dr. Murugan highlighted that NLW supports skill development for over 3 million central civil servants, 22 million state-level civil servants, and 5 million officials at Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), with training accessible to both permanent and contractual staff.
At the event, Dr. Murugan praised the Ministry’s launch of an iGOT lab, designed to foster a culture of continuous learning. He emphasized the importance of recent Ministry-led webinars on social media utilization, film-viewing trends, and photography skills, alongside mandatory four-hour training sessions on the iGOT Karmayogi portal covering office procedures, gender sensitivity, and leadership.
In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of an “Aspirational India,” Dr. Murugan urged the Ministry to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, like ChatGPT and Gemini, to enhance productivity and streamline repetitive tasks. He underscored how data-driven, AI-powered decision-making can allow civil servants to prioritize high-impact governance areas, improve service delivery, and foster citizen-centric governance. The Minister encouraged a focus on behavioral training to further improve grievance resolution and support efficient, responsive governance.
