Divisional Committee Meeting of MPs Held in Jharsuguda to Enhance Railway Services

Jharsuguda: The Divisional Committee Meeting of Members of Parliament (MPs) representing the Sambalpur Railway Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) took place today in Jharsuguda. The meeting brought together distinguished MPs from both Chhattisgarh and Odisha, alongside Senior Railway Officials, including East Coast Railway General Manager  Parmeshwar Funkwal.

During the meeting, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, MP for Balangir, was nominated as the Chairman of the Divisional Committee. The gathering included notable MPs such as:

  • Pradeep Purohit, MP/Bargarh
  • Malvika Devi, MP/Kalahandi
  • Roop Kumari Choudhry, MP/Mahasamund
  • Niranjan Bishi,  MP/Rajya Sabha
  • Tankadhar Tripathy, MLA, Jharsuguda, representing Union Minister for Education and MP/Sambalpur

The MPs engaged in constructive discussions aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure and improving passenger amenities in the region. They expressed appreciation for the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Sambalpur Railway Division, underscoring the significance of ongoing projects and addressing crucial points regarding train services, stoppages, and passenger facilities.

Key issues discussed during the meeting included:

  • Increasing train frequency and extending services to remote locations
  • Expediting the construction of new railway lines
  • Developing Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges (ROBs)
  • Enhancing passenger amenities at stations
  • Ensuring cleanliness of trains, platforms, and station areas
  • Timely completion of ongoing projects
  • Stopping trains at more locations

The Members commended East Coast Railway’s commitment to addressing regional freight transportation needs while continuously striving for better passenger train services.

In his address, General Manager Funkwal welcomed the Hon’ble Members of Parliament and expressed gratitude for their valuable inputs and insightful feedback. He updated the attendees on the performance of East Coast Railway, focusing on improvements in passenger services and the status of ongoing infrastructure development projects.

The meeting was also attended by Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur, Tushar Kant Pandey, Principal Heads of various departments of East Coast Railway, and other officers from the Sambalpur Division. This collaborative effort aims to bolster railway services in the region, ensuring a better experience for passengers and enhanced connectivity.
