Dinesh Karthik Appointed as RCB’s New Batting Coach and Mentor

Bangalore: Former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the new batting coach and mentor of the IPL franchise, RCB announced on Monday.

Karthik, 39, recently retired from all forms of cricket following the conclusion of the IPL 2024 season. His illustrious career includes being a member of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Karthik also boasts a remarkable IPL journey, having played in every edition of the tournament until his retirement.

Karthik’s association with RCB has seen two significant stints, with his latest tenure from 2022 to 2024 being particularly fruitful. His exceptional performance as a finisher in the 2022 season earned him a spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia. Despite a moderate season in 2023, Karthik ended his playing career on a high note earlier this year, amassing over 300 runs at an impressive strike rate of 187.36.

RCB’s decision to bring Karthik on board as a mentor and batting coach is seen as a strategic move to leverage his extensive experience and cricketing insights. Speaking about his new role, Karthik expressed his excitement and commitment to nurturing young talents and contributing to the team’s success.
