Devotees to be allowed to witness the ‘Gajanana Besha’ of Lord Jagannath on Snana Purnima

Puri: Good news for the devotees of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, as they will get an opportunity to witness the Gajanana Besha of the deities on Deba Snana Purnima scheduled on June 14.

The decision was taken at the meeting of Chhatisha Nijog Committee on Wednesday presided by the chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Vir Vikram Yadav which was attended by members of the Chhattisa Nijog.

After a gap of two years, the Snana Jatra will be held with public participation. The decision has been taken to allow devotees atop the bathing altar for three hours after Hati Besha. However, they won’t be allowed touch the deities.

This apart, the sebayats will also not be allowed to stand in front of the deities  blocking darshan, informed Ramakrishna Das Mohapatra of Daitapati Nijog.

On June 14 the pahandi of the Lord will commence at 4 am and completed by 6 am. The ‘Jala Bije’ niti will be performed between 9.30 am and 11.30 am while the deities will be decorated in Hati Besha (elephant attire) between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm. 

The public darshan will be allowed from 6 pm to 9.30 pm. The bahuda of deities from Snana bedi will begin at 10 pm and other rituals will be carried out.
