Department of Telecom, Gujarat Launches Telecom Facilitation Centre to Drive Sectoral Growth

Ahmedabad: The telecom sector in India is poised for a revolutionary transformation, propelled by advancements in cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, M2M/IoT, and allied fields. Recognizing the pivotal role of startups, MSMEs, and academia in this paradigm shift, the Department of Telecom, Gujarat, inaugurated its Telecom Facilitation Centre on March 21st, 2024.

The newly established centre aims to bolster the growth of the telecom sector by providing comprehensive support to various stakeholders, including startups, MSMEs, academia, licensees, and registration holders. Situated at the 1st Floor, Dept. of Telecom Gujarat office, RTTC, SG Highway, Jagatpur, Ahmedabad, the centre will serve as a one-stop destination for navigating regulatory processes, accessing departmental schemes, and fostering innovation.

One of the primary objectives of the Telecom Facilitation Centre is to guide potential licensees and registration holders through the intricacies of obtaining licenses and authorizations from the Department of Telecom (DoT). It will provide assistance in understanding and complying with the terms and conditions outlined in these licenses, as well as facilitate matters related to Right of Way (RoW) and Building Bye-Laws 2016.

Moreover, the centre will play a crucial role in supporting M2M Service Providers by offering guidance on global and national M2M standards, streamlining the registration process, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, it will facilitate the registration of PM WANI PDOA and App Providers, thereby enabling the deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots across Gujarat.

Furthermore, the Telecom Facilitation Centre is committed to extending comprehensive support to Telecom Start-ups, SMEs, Incubators, and hubs. It will disseminate detailed information on Department of Telecom schemes focused on fostering innovation, research and development (R&D), skill development, and green Telecom technologies. Notable schemes include the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF), Digital Communications India Scheme (DCIS), 5G use-case labs, and initiatives aimed at promoting skill development and innovation within the sector.
