Ahmedabad: The Department of Posts is significantly enhancing its service offerings and technological integration, aiming to connect local businesses with global markets more effectively. At an interactive session titled ‘Advancement in Postal Services and Services Provided to Exporters,’ held by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) in Ahmedabad, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, Krishna Kumar Yadav, highlighted several new initiatives aimed at improving export capabilities and technological advancements.
The spotlight of the event was on the introduction of DakgharNiryat Kendra (DNK), a key development designed to bolster the export potential of local businesses. DNK serves as a one-stop destination for exporters, facilitating smooth commercial export through the postal channel. Exporters can now book parcels directly from their premises without visiting a post office, with online customs clearance, documentation, label printing, and document-free customs clearance available through DNK services.
Krishna Kumar Yadav emphasized the strategic role of DNK in connecting products of ODOP (One District, One Product), GI (Geographical Indication), and MSME to global markets. He highlighted that the DNK services are already benefiting exporters, artisans, traders, and self-help groups from small towns and villages by providing a streamlined export process.
The event also showcased advancements in postal services through a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation and detailed discussions with exporters. Shri Yadav outlined several innovations, including:
GCCI President Sandeep Engineer delivered the welcome address, and Chairman of Logistics Task Force, Hiten Vasant, presented the theme address. Chairman of Mahajan Sankalan Committee, Ashish Jhaveri, offered the vote of thanks.
Yadav also highlighted the expansion of services beyond mail and logistics, including money remittance, savings banks, insurance, India Post Payments Bank, Aadhaar, passport services, and common service centers. He emphasized the transformation of postal services from traditional physical mail to a more comprehensive digital platform.
