DARPG Releases 10th Edition of Monthly Report on “Secretariat Reforms” for January 2024

New Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has unveiled the 10th edition of its monthly report on “Secretariat Reforms” for the month of January 2024. The comprehensive report, available through the [Link to Report], provides a detailed analysis of three key initiatives: Swachhata Campaign and Reducing Pendency to Minimum Levels, Increasing Efficiency in Decision Making, and e-Office.

Under the Swachhata Campaign and Reduction in Pendency initiative, the report underscores the government’s commitment to institutionalizing cleanliness, reducing backlog, and streamlining decision-making processes. Notably, the Initiative for Increasing Efficiency in Decision Making has gained significant momentum across all Ministries and Departments.

Key highlights from the January 2024 report include:

Swachhata Campaign & Reduction in Pendency:

Cleanliness Campaign conducted at 4,563 offices.
17.02 Lakh sq. ft of space freed.
Revenue of Rs 18.18 Cr earned through scrap disposal.
Disposal of 4,67,955 public grievances.
Initiative for Increasing Efficiency in Decision Making:

Average transaction levels for active files in the Central Secretariat reduced from 7.19 in January 2021 to 4.58 in January 2024.
e-Office Implementation and Analytics:

E-Office analytics dashboard widely adopted in all Ministries and Departments.
In January 2024, 92% of total files created in the Central Secretariat are e-Files, and 92.73% of total receipts are e-Receipts.
Increase in Inter Ministerial Files to 4470 in January 2024 compared to 3808 files in December 2023.
The report also places a special focus on “Maintenance of Record Rooms” and highlights best practices in the Department of Posts, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Mines, and Department of Biotechnology.

V. Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, reviewed the monthly progress in a meeting with all nodal officers. Ministries and Departments were urged to sustain the achieved momentum under the campaign into February 2024. The report signifies the government’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and accountability in administrative processes.
