Cyclonic Storm brewing over BoB, Odisha on High Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted the public about a developing cyclonic storm over the east-central Bay of Bengal, which is expected to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm by October 23. The storm could bring wind speeds of up to 120 km/h and is predicted to cause heavy rainfall across Odisha, according to IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

With the sea conditions turning rough, fishermen have been strongly advised to stay away from the Andaman Sea until October 21 and avoid the Bay of Bengal until October 25. Coastal regions are expected to face high tides and strong winds, prompting officials to urge residents to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety.

In response to the warning, local authorities in Odisha have activated emergency plans, preparing for possible evacuations in vulnerable areas. Disaster management teams are on alert, with resources and personnel ready to tackle any challenges posed by the storm, including potential flooding and property damage.

The IMD is continuously monitoring the cyclone’s trajectory and intensity, providing updates as it approaches the Odisha coast. The public is advised to follow official guidelines and remain informed about the evolving situation.
