
New Delhi: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – National Physical Laboratory (NPL) hosted a three-day workshop on the AEISS (Artificial Intelligence and Electronics for Sustainable Societies) theme from August 2nd to 4th at the NPL campus. This event was part of CSIR’s ‘One Week One Theme’ initiative and saw participation from labs including CSIR-CSIO, CSIR-CEERI, and CSIR-IIP.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Venugopal Achanta, Director of CSIR-NPL. This was followed by a keynote address by Dr. Abhay Anant Pashilkar, Director of CSIR-NAL and AEISS Theme Director. Dr. Pashilkar elaborated on the AEISS theme, highlighting its pivotal role in achieving the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India), Swasth Bharat (Healthy India), and Make in India initiatives. He also discussed the projected targets associated with the AEISS theme.
Dr. P. C. Panchariya, Director of CSIR-CEERI, emphasized the crucial role of the AEISS theme in driving industrial growth. He spoke about the importance of a single window system for smooth and straightforward technology transfer, underlining how such an approach can streamline innovation and industrial application.
Dr. S. K. Dubey, the workshop convenor, outlined the agenda for the three days. The program included a student-scientist interaction session, a Startup/MSME/Industry meet, and a focus on Women in AEISS. Over 60 students participated in the student-scientist interaction program, where they explored an exhibition and engaged with scientists. The first day concluded with a science quiz based on the exhibition, which was met with enthusiasm by the participants.
