CSIR-IICT and KAMP Collaborate for Specialized Teacher Training Program

Hyderabad:  In a collaborative effort between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) and Knowledge Addition and Management through Participation (KAMP), a specialized teacher training program was conducted on February 16, 2024. The program, hosted at CSIR-IICT in Hyderabad, brought together more than 60 educators from various schools, focusing on the theme ‘Enhancing Scientific Temperament through Technological Interventions.’

This marked KAMP’s fourth Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program tailored for educators, organized in partnership with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The initiative aimed to provide participating educators with comprehensive training sessions led by subject matter experts, covering diverse dimensions of science education.

Throughout the day, educators had the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from eminent scientists and researchers, including Dr. Aravind Chinchure (Chair Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Symbiosis International University, Pune), Dr. Somdatta Karak (Science Communications and Outreach Officer, CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology), Dr. Jageedesh. N (Principal Scientist, CSIR-IICT), Dr. S. Sridhar (Chief Scientist, CSIR-IICT), and Dr. J. Vatsalarani, Senior Principal Scientist and CSIR-Jigyasa Coordinator at CSIR-IICT.

The program also included a hands-on lab visit within the CSIR-IICT premises. Educators gained practical insights into Anaerobic Gas Lift Reactor Technology, Water Purification Technologies, and Pheromone Technology.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Aniket Arora, Outreach Coordinator at KAMP, acknowledged the support of Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director of CSIR-IICT, and Dr. J. Vatsalarani, Senior Principal Scientist and CSIR-Jigyasa Coordinator, along with the entire team. He highlighted the significance of such events, emphasizing KAMP’s belief in experiential learning as a key element in nurturing educators and students’ profound interest and understanding of science and other developments in India.

Mr. Arora also informed educators about upcoming activities, including online Knowledge Sharing Sessions, Scientific Excursions for students, and Continuous Professional Development programs for educators. These initiatives aim to provide opportunities for participants to explore, discover, and engage with various scientific disciplines in real-world settings at eminent CSIR laboratories and research organizations across India.
