Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has earned the ‘National Public Bus Transport Excellence Award’ in the New Initiatives category for its exceptional digital practices. The award was presented during a ceremony at the Jacaranda Hall, India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on Saturday.
Sahadev Samadhia, General Manager (P&A) at CRUT, received the prestigious award, highlighting the organization’s efforts in leveraging technology to enhance the commuter experience and improve operational efficiency.
CRUT’s innovative approach to urban transport has transformed the way commuters experience public transportation. The introduction of several advanced technological solutions such as UPI-based digital ticketing, a mobile pass system via the Mo Bus app and ONDC platform, and Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) has set new standards for convenience and efficiency. These systems are designed to provide real-time tracking, reduce waiting times, and improve crowd management.
The inclusion of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across major transit points has streamlined the ticketing process, offering passengers a smoother experience. Additionally, Mo Bus cards can now be conveniently recharged through the Mo Bus app or ETIM machines, further enhancing customer convenience.
In light of this achievement, N. Thirumala Naik, Managing Director of CRUT, emphasized the organization’s dedication to transforming urban transportation. He said, “This award reflects the hard work and vision of the CRUT team. We remain committed to enhancing the travel experience for passengers by implementing cutting-edge digital solutions and sustainable transport options.”
Aligned with the Odisha Government’s ‘Vikshit Odisha’ vision, CRUT’s digital initiatives aim to build a digitally connected and sustainable transport ecosystem that focuses on making urban mobility more accessible, efficient, and future-ready.
