
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday ordered a Crime Branch investigation into the mob lynching incident reported from Balianta, stressing the need for a fair and thorough probe into the case.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan to review the incident and the prevailing law and order situation. The Chief Minister directed the Crime Branch to carry out a comprehensive investigation and ensure strict legal action against those responsible.
Taking serious note of the incident, Majhi also instructed the police administration to remain on high alert and strengthen preventive measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in the state. He urged senior police officials to ensure effective monitoring and timely intervention in sensitive situations.
The Chief Minister further emphasized maintaining public confidence in the law enforcement system and directed officials to take all necessary steps to reinforce law and order across Odisha.
