
Bhubaneswar: A special team of crime branch has been formed to inquire about fake Covid-19 medicines being circulated in different parts of the state.
The team held a discussion with Drugs Controller Annada Sankar Das regarding the issue.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday has directed state police to form a special team to investigate the matter after the State Drugs Controller confirmed that fake Favipiravir tablets, an anti-viral medication used in treating coronavirus patients, were recovered from a medicine store in Cuttack on June 10.
Health officials and police department raided various places in 14 districts and recovered a large quantity of fake medicines being used for the treatment of Covid patients. Fake drugs were also seized from Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Bhubaneswar on June 11.
