Bhubaneswar: The Congress party has announced Jay Narayan Patnaik as its candidate for the Puri Lok Sabha seat in the forthcoming general elections in Odisha. This decision comes after Sucharita Mohanty relinquished the ticket, citing the denial of party funds as the reason for her withdrawal.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved Jay Narayan Patnaik’s candidature for the 17th Puri Parliamentary Constituency of Odisha. Patnaik steps in to replace Sucharita Mohanty, who had earlier been nominated as the Congress candidate for the seat.
Sucharita Mohanty’s decision to return the ticket brought attention to internal issues within the party, highlighting alleged discrepancies in the allocation of party funds.
