Commissionerate Police Gears Up for Rukuna Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar: For the Ashokastami car festival also known as Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj scheduled for tomorrow, the Commissionerate Police has undertaken extensive preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. A high-level preparatory meeting was convened today to address various aspects including traffic regulation, security measures, vehicle parking arrangements, and management of the prevailing heatwave conditions.

The rituals of the Rukuna Rath Yatra, an integral part of the deity’s festivities, are slated to commence at 5:00 AM, followed by the ceremonial pulling of the chariot at 3:30 PM. To facilitate the safe passage of the procession, vehicular movement has been restricted on Ratha Road.

In order to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of devotees and participants, a robust security apparatus has been put in place. Twelve platoons of police force, comprising two Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), six Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 15 inspectors, over 50 sub-inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), along with more than 100 constables and home guards, will be deployed throughout the area.

“The Ashokastami car festival holds immense religious significance for the devotees, and it is our duty to ensure their safety and security during the event,” stated a senior police official. “With meticulous planning and dedicated personnel, we are confident of maintaining order and facilitating the smooth conduct of the festivities.”

The Commissionerate Police has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to the prescribed guidelines to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration of the Ashokastami car festival.
