Bhubaneswar: The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police on Thursday received 30 state-of-the-art Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) vehicles, marking a significant step toward enhancing public safety and emergency response in the Twin City. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi handed over the vehicles at a formal ceremony, emphasizing the importance of a robust emergency response framework.
The new ERSS vehicles, which will operate under the ‘Dial 112’ service, are designed to address a range of emergencies, including fire incidents, medical crises, and rescue operations. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the need for a dedicated fleet capable of acting as first responders in critical situations, ensuring prompt and effective interventions.
Equipped with advanced infrastructure, these vehicles feature oxygen tanks, stretchers, life-support systems, and first-aid kits to provide immediate medical assistance during accidents. The fleet also includes fire suppression systems, ladders, ropes, and life jackets, enabling efficient rescue operations during fires and natural calamities.
The integration of location-tracking systems into the vehicles ensures swift deployment to emergency sites, reducing response times and enhancing operational efficiency.
Commissionerate Police officials stated that the new fleet is part of an initiative to modernize the force and improve the delivery of essential services in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Chief Minister lauded the initiative, describing it as a crucial measure to bolster the safety and security framework in the state. “Having a dedicated team of first responders with the necessary tools and training is critical for ensuring public safety and tackling emergencies effectively,” he said.
