
Bhubaneswar: Union Communications Minister Aswini Vaishnaw launched five Commemorative Postage Stamps today, paying tribute to the legendary poets Bhima Bhoi and Gangadhar Meher of Odisha. The event took place via video conferencing from Bhubaneswar. In addition to the stamp release, 42 Branch Post Offices across seven districts of Western Odisha were inaugurated during the ceremony, graced by Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, at Biju Patnaik Auditorium in Sambalpur University, Burla.
During the ceremony, Pradhan expressed gratitude for the fitting tribute to Gangadhar Meher, especially as the state approaches his birth centenary. He also extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Communications Minister Aswini Vaishnaw for commemorating Bhima Bhoi, a revered poet and preacher of the Mahima cult, with a dedicated postage stamp.
