Bhubaneswar: Since its release Odia movie DAMaN has been garnering the attention of audiences across the country for its inspiring story, and the state Government has asked collectors to arrange a special screening of the movie at the district and sub-divisional level in Odisha.
Inspired by the real-life story of Dr. Omkar Hota, the film highlights the State Government scheme Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakarana (DAMaN) launched in the year 2016 to control Malaria in 8000 villages in 8 malaria prone districts of the State.
The portrays the dedication of the doctors and officials to eradicate Malaria and convince tribal people in remote areas to accept modern treatment instead of following blind faiths and stigma.
The film was also screened in Lokseba Bhawan conference hall on November 20 for senior officers of the State Government including Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.
Shalini Pandit, Secretary Health Department said, “This movie carries a positive message on implementation of health schemes through joint efforts of Government and people in hard to reach areas”.
She asked Collectors of all districts to arrange special screenings of the film in their nearby theatres, and cinema halls either at the district or sub-divisional level as per suitability.
